A Limited Edition HO-Scale ScaleTrains BSC Finger Rack Flatcar painted for freelance model railroad Copper State Railway!

The booming population of the Phoenix Valley means that the need for raw materials is constantly soaring to new levels. In order to meet customer demand the Copper State Railway purchased a small quantity of finger rack flatcars to transport large volumes of steel rebar for construction projects. These cars can be seen gathering steel from mills across the country namely on partner road, Yankeetown Dock Corporation (also available in this release!).

As demand rose, the need became evident for the cars to be rebuilt. In the 1990's the Copper State signed an agreement with Banna Steel Car Co. to rebuild the fleet of finger rack flatcars.

These freshly rebuilt cars sport the famed Desert Sky blue base color scheme and Metallic Copper lettering with a gleaming white deck. This CSR car also features the rebuild Banna Steel Car Co. logo as an homage to this freelance road's original creator, Brian Banna. The last run of Copper State Railway freight cars went fast so be sure to get your steel hauling finger rack flatcar from Home Shops today!

About the Prototype:

Introduced in 1969, the Bethlehem Steel Co. (BSC) F68-series of 100-ton, 68-foot long (over end sills) flats represented a new generation of high-capacity flats. Extremely versatile, the basic design could be equipped from the factory with various appliances to handle different loadings. At the end of 1969, BSC introduced the “F68BH” class of cars for trailer trains. The Rivet Counter™ HO Scale model is accurately rendered from builder drawings and photos, featuring road number-specific details like steel decks, transverse deck risers, MacLean-Fogg transverse tie-down apparatus, distinctive upright “finger racks” near each end, a complete underbody brake system with over 18 separately applied parts including the air reservoir, control valve, reduction relay valve and retainer valve, plus wire form plumbing and trainline piping.
